Happy New Year to all LORT South neighbors!! We hope that you had a joyous and happy holiday season.
Here are a few accomplishments that your board has had over the last few months.
1. We continue with the erosion control around the lake, and are about 50% complete.
2. We fixed most of the severely cracked sidewalks and will repair others as needed.
3. We sponsored the fall picnic attended by over 40 families.
4. We sponsored the Halloween carnival on the lake awarding 9 prizes to three age groups. Scores of other prizes were given out at each of the game stations.
5. We removed several fallen and dead trees around the lake and on Precinct Line.
6. We sponsored a visit from Santa for group and individual pictures.
We are pleased to announce that the collection agency has collected over $1000 in delinquent dues over the past few months. We still have several thousand to go, but are making some progress. Remember to pay your dues on time to avoid being turned over to the collection agency and receiving a 33% extra charge to cover the collection agency expenses. Contact Penny at 817-590-4567 if you have questions.
A special thank you for those neighbors that took the bull by the horns and led the effort to lobby against the rezoning of 7249 Randal Mill Road. If you haven’t heard, their effort was successful and the Fort Worth Zoning commission voted down the request by Chesapeake to build a 15 compressor station. Special thanks to Kim Sheppard, Gail Gray, Mellissa McDougal, Cheryl Taliaferro and Suzanne Grigsby for all their work on this effort.
It is important to remember that you must contact the Architect Committee via the web site (under the contact us tab) to do any construction on your property. This includes fence replacement, building patio covers building sheds and anything attached to your house. It is a painless exercise and protects you from complaints, fines or even worse case tearing down the structure.
The annual community HOA meeting will be held on Monday, January 16th at 6:45 PM in the newly remodeled conference rooms of the Hurst Public Library at 901 Precinct Line Road. Be sure to attend as we will be electing new board members. We enthusiastically encourage homeowners to become active on the board or to volunteer for special projects. This is your chance to make a difference in your neighborhood!
